My idea is to write, direct and produce an 3-5 min AI-made short film that tells the story of a series of unfortunate events that triggers deception, loss and revenge told through the lens of 3 characters entangled by faith.

TBD is a short AI film that is set in a futuristic soon to be dystopian world and portrays the story of The Samurai (TBD). A loving husband who’s destiny was about to change. Mr Company (TBD), is the CEO of a massive and highly advance tech company that is researching to process a rare new material in order to achieve ultra powerful computing. The Wife (TBD) is the scientist behind that project, which was potentially dangerous for her health because of the high amount of radiation she would be exposed. Once The Wife falls into a rare incurable disease, The Samurai asked for support from Mr. Company and the tech company to help The Wife. Mr. Company neglects to provide any sort of assistance. The Wife passes away, causing an extreme amount of pain and resentment from The Samurai towards Mr. Company, later taking the decision to kill him to avenge his wife. Mr. Company’s mind was automatically set to upload into a powerful, non finished AI project that takes over the entire company and goes berserk, destroying the whole city and hurting innocent people. Responsible for triggering such events, The Samurai decides to fight Mr. Company’s evil rest of mind and AI failure project to save the city and remedy his actions. Once victorious, we see him badly injured and going into an undefined state of rest.
How did you become interested in this idea?
I’ve always liked stories that where the characters have a sense of purpose and are driven mainly powerful emotions. One of the stories that resonates with me in this area, and the samurai theme that I love, is the anime Demon Slayer. This show is very much driven by emotion, which makes it really powerful in terms of storytelling and forces people to relate in some way in a meaningful way. Although there could be negative emotions involved, the show balances them beautifully with other complex emotions such as compassion, sense of empathy and mercy between characters. In this case, I am looking to balance an emotion like revenge with the feeling of responsibility and purpose that The Samurai’s decisions have triggered; from the perspective of a philosophical and ethical problem accidentally caused by his actions in a human state of madness.
Another source of inspiration of complex stories that develop in crazy ways and are filled with sorrow, confusion and deception are the Metal Gear Solid video game franchise. Too many good plot twists, technological advance problematics embedded and great storytelling in general.

Mostly, the aesthetics I envision for the piece are video game like aesthetics. I enjoy the weird out of reality textures, but also the pseudo realism within. I enjoy how the this allows for brilliant lightning and also for crazy shadowing. I hope I can get some of that from AI. I think the textures I have achieved for now are not that far away from that goal. I’ll share some images that depict what I mean. Death Stranding, Star Wars Outlaws, Cyberpunk 2077, Maul and Blade Runner 2049 are some of the references I have visually.
