A web visualizer that explores the idea of the interaction of the user and the music.
I wanted to create an interactive visualizer that could make use of object oriented programing and concepts from The Nature of Code book by Daniel Shiffman, such as fractals. Inspired by it and feedback and resources from my class mates and professor Lenin Compress, I was able to explore this topic and convey part of my idea. The visualizer would give some control to the user but also leave some innate capabilities to the music itself to evolve the visualizer over time and be affected by the track characteristics.
The architecture of the website looks like this

I used HTML, CSS and javascript to create the website properties, UX and UI. Other than that, javascript was the main language for the rest of the classes.
At the very beginning I started experimenting with the book’s examples. I quickly realized that to make something more interesting and less computationally heavy for my computer, I had to explore other alternatives. The Mandelbrot Set sounded like a good alternative at some point in terms of infinitely zooming into it. I created a version that allowed the user to go really deep into the set and move slightly towards the mouse click. This one was inspired by Daniel Shiffman’s videos on Mandelbrot Sets. Although the idea was great, there was no so much interaction I could achieve from this without breaking it or making my computer explode. For best results and after talking to my class mate Aditya, I landed on the idea of using a Julia Set instead.
This interaction is meant to be like a dance between what the user can do vs what the music analyzer listens and gets from the music data characteristics.
The user has the possibility of controlling the following:
