As an assignment for week for, we had to think on the materials we would use on our stop motion. The first question we asked to ourselves was. What’s the story? However, we thought it would be cool to think in the materials first to come up with a story. Some of the ideas we had were:

• Board game with our hands and pieces?
• The bracelet?
• Pens and school stuff?
• Tissues
• Paper origami.
• Clock using servo lab to recreate pointers?
• Picture of the picture iphone.
• Hands on Hands
• Jenga?
• Dominoes

For this week we decided using origami figures to make our stop motion. Valerie and I thought about having a human-like figure, a boat and waves, all of them made of paper. It was a little challenging to make the figures, but Valerie have more experience making origami figures so it was fairly easier to her! Which was a great input to our project. Our story was a man navigating in the sea, when suddenly a wave makes him lose control of the boat and sink in the ocean. After that, a hand of a friend comes in and saves him from drowning. Finally he thanks us for that.

At first, we had a recording from farer away. It actually was not that bad, it could also worked. But we had the chance to record it from up close. This decision helped us to get more immersed into the story, watching it from a closer perspective.

Because it is stop motion, we captured each movement frame by frame to create a motion for our objects and character using Stop Motion Studio. We connected it to our cellphone for it to be used as a camera. We did not calculated correctly about how much time would making the origami figures would take us. However, we managed to achieve our short loop on time.

During the week we prepared the sound for our short loop for it to come to life!
