Typeface vs Font
Typeface is Roboto and a system for all sizes and boldness. Font, the specific rules of a typeface and itself wether is bold or which size.
Typeface, what makes it a typeface? Is a system of design.
Leading: Spacing between baselines. May increase or decrease the readability of the type. In photoshop, Illustrator and Figma you have a lot of control with this. On a large device the space for best readability is different from a small one. If you move your body to read, space needs to be smaller. If you just move your eyes, may like to be larger. Only your head may be a good balance?
Line length: length of the page’s wideness. If your text goes to wide to the right, the attention of your audience may drift. If your visuals are the hero maybe a narrow line length is better.
Kerning: adjusting the space between individual letters. Check the kerning game to have a better notion of the space between. Seems fun. Letter by letter. Manual process. Not for body text though because it is unreasonable.
Tracking: not recommended in design unless you have a good reason. e.g. Uppercase or all-caps in maps. (Maps are a great source of inspiration for typeface hierarchy. They have wider tracking. It is harder to read for a sentence, but draws your attention. Visual hierarchy. Can work together with Kerning but they’re not the same.
Define myself typographically with the combination of two typefaces. Name one type, and one sentence that describe you in another typeface. Dramatically different for it to be compelling and effective. Don’t be a one typeface person hahaha. Different in:
